Sol's husband, Robert Hanson, was eager to meet Roy as he was very jealous of him. When alone with Sol, Roy made a move on Sol, but was refused.
Roy attended the premiere of Robert's show, The Music Man, and flirted with Robert afterwards. Sol and Robert's marriage improved because of Roy's flirtations. When their therapist suggested an open marriage, Sol and Robert fantasized about having an affair with Roy.
When having lunch with Robert and Sol, they admitted to being attracted to him and using his flirtations to improve their sex life. Roy briefly felt used, but forgave them after they collectively blamed their therapist. They then got drunk and had a threesome.
